Video Ubiquity

Despite the challenging economic climate, most operators we talk with continue to be optimistic about the near- and long-term prospects for the video delivery market. The fact that video is increasingly being viewed anywhere and everywhere on a plethora of devices certainly bodes well for our industry! The challenge now is establishing the best technological path to video ubiquity.

We have just announced a solution that we believe will help tremendously in this area. Our new content repurposing technology takes transcoding to an entirely new level. Please read below for more details on this revolutionary technology.

RGB not only provides technology—we're very committed to service and a partnership with our customers as well. As we have been from the start, the RGB team is dedicated to working with everyone who uses our products to meet their current and future needs. In order to do this, I believe it is crucial to keep our talent pool fresh, with experts available to provide their knowledge in all key areas. This is why we've recently brought on two IP video specialists—Yuval Fisher as CTO and Rudi Polednik as head of International Sales—to help us as we move forward in the evolving world of video.

It's an exciting time and we look forward to helping you through the challenges.

Best regards,

Jef Graham
CEO, RGB Networks

RGB’s Unique Content Repurposing Makes ‘Three Screens’ Possible with a Radically Different Architecture

If you've been around the video delivery business for even a short time, you know that 'three screen' delivery is the Holy Grail for operators. With the ability to deliver the same video to TVs, PCs and mobile devices, pay-TV providers have a means to help keep their 'on-the-go' subscribers in a very dynamic and competitive environment. With RGB's unique approach, combining multiple video processing functions in a single, ultra-dense chassis, operators have a singular tool to accomplish their goals, while keeping costs low and complexity at a minimum.

Deliver Video from Any Source to Any Device

RGB's BNP and DBM Rise to the Occasion
With more and more service providers implementing the bandwidth-saving MPEG-4/ H.264 codec, RGB has enhanced our already exceptional bandwidth optimization products to support this advanced video format.

With this new upgrade, the zoned and targeted ad insertion capabilities of RGB's Broadcast Network Processor (BNP) are broader and allow greater flexibility for operators implementing MPEG-4/H.264 ad insertion.

In addition, the real-time video-on-demand (VOD) transrating capabilities of the Dynamic Bandwidth Manager (DBM) may now be utilized by operators who use the advanced compression capabilities of MPEG-4/H.264. The bandwidth savings capabilities of RGB's upgraded DBM will also benefit operators who employ a combination of MPEG-4/H.264 and MPEG-2.

These important enhancements reflect RGB's strong commitment to keep pace with our customers' needs.

Turnkey Advertising Solution for the Taking
Now that RGB Networks and SeaChange International, a leader in advertising systems, have clinched their reseller agreement, service providers have the opportunity to acquire a complete, integrated turnkey ad insertion system. This scalable solution is the answer for many small- to mid-sized operators looking for a streamlined method of generating revenue through local ad insertion, or in need of a simplified way to transition ad insertions from analog to all-digital. Fully supporting both MPEG-2 and MPEG-4/H.264, this advanced solution is cost-effective and allows savvy operators to increase their bottom line while keeping up with the competition.

IP Video Is Growing Fast and RGB Responds by Bringing On Experts in this Advanced Field

RGB's new CTO, Yuval Fisher, brings over twenty years experience in multimedia technology implementation. Fisher was a co-founder of Envivio, a provider of three screens video, where he spearheaded research and development activities focused on mobile streaming, HTTP streaming technology, VOD encoding, and catch-up TV. His expertise in video compression solutions is unparalleled, having served as one of the lead editors of the MPEG-4 Systems specifications, as well as having chaired the MPEG-4 Conformance Group. He also served as a member of the Internet Streaming Media Alliance (ISMA), and worked on several MPEG-4 implementations for major companies.

RGB's second strategic team addition is Rudi Polednik, who serves as Senior Director of International Sales. Polednik has spent two successful decades in the telecommunications industry as a sales and marketing executive, including seven years with Envivio where he secured major deals with service providers worldwide, growing the company’s revenues markedly.

With these two IP video professionals on board, RGB is on a fast track to the new world of video.

The Chassis Formerly Known as the Modular Video Processor

At the heart of RGB's new content repurposing solution is the Video Multiprocessing Gateway (VMG). This chassis, formerly named the Modular Video Processor, can accommodate modules that support a number of applications, including transcoding via RGB's new TCM module. The high capacity and 'pay-as-you-grow' scalability of the VMG make this carrier-class platform a superior alternative to legacy single-function solutions.
