RGB Networks Demonstrates Localized Ad Solution for Cable Operators

Expands local ad sales opportunity by dramatically simplifying the localization and delivery of national and local ads using new digital overlay technology

ORLANDO, FL – June 21, 2007Here at Cable-Tec Expo, RGB Networks, the leader in network video processing, is demonstrating how cable operators can easily localize ads for both national and local advertisers.  At RGB’s show floor booth (#2480), the company is showcasing its Broadcast Network Processor (BNP) taking one national ad and delivering it to three separate ad zones with locally relevant information added for each zone in real-time.

Carrying local ads is a lucrative revenue stream for U.S. operators, earning them $4.3 billion in 2006 according to Kagan Research.  However, the extensive post-production work traditionally required to localize ads dramatically increases costs, limiting the number of advertisers.  The new digital overlay capability of the BNP can overcome this limitation, enabling operators to easily localize ads in real-time by overlaying text, graphics and even video directly onto ads to provide locally relevant or time-sensitive information.  Complementing the BNP in this demonstration is the ad campaign server from BlackArrow, a provider of video ad-management solutions, which ensures that the correct ad overlays are delivered to the correct ad zones.

“Local ads are a proven money maker for cable operators, and we are showing cable operators that they can expand this lucrative opportunity by dramatically reducing the time, cost and effort advertisers have traditionally endured to localize ads,” said Ramin Farassat, Vice President of Product Marketing for RGB Networks. “Combining ad insertion, digital overlay and tremendous stream processing density, our Broadcast Network Processor gives cable operators unprecedented abilities to easily and continually localize ads based on location, language and other factors to generate new ad revenues.”

About RGB’s Broadcast Network Processor
Based on RGB’s Video Intelligence Architecture™ (VIA), the Broadcast Network Processor (BNP) is designed to enable cable operators to deliver highly targeted and personalized video services.  Housed in a one rack-unit platform, the BNP delivers the cable industry’s highest density solution for digital video grooming, statistical multiplexing, transrating, digital program insertion (DPI) and digital overlays.  With the ability to process more than 500 video streams in a single rack unit, the BNP significantly lowers the cost of delivering advanced digital video services. RGB’s Broadcast Network Processor offers the scalability to support current and future network growth, while also providing the flexibility to sustain new applications such as switched digital video, targeted ad insertion and digital simulcast.  The BNP also reduces the complexity and cost of deploying these services, allowing operators to focus on introducing more personalized, revenue-generating services.

About RGB Networks
